Plan to attend a day (or weekend) at this year's camp. Admission is free, but parking isn't - cars are now $12/day (up from $10 last year), school buses and small passenger vans are $25/day and large buses are $50/day. Here's our list of training camp tips:
- Although practice sessions are free and open to the public, times don't always match the schedule on the Bengals training camp website - be flexible.
- There's very little shade at camp, so dress cool and wear plenty of sunscreen! Consider bringing a hat and umbrella, too. BYOG - Bring Your Own Gatorade!
- Wear comfortable shoes - it's quite a walk from the parking lot to the stadium.
- The team uses the practice field next to the stadium for most of its drills - bring your lawn chairs.
- Concession stands in the stadium sell soft drinks and food like burgers; good thing since there's only a few fast-food restaurants nearby.
- There's a nice (but small and UN-AIRCONDITIONED) Bengals pro shop set up inside the stadium - go EARLY if you must since it fills up fast.
- Bring a Sharpie! The players sign autographs during some of their breaks, but some of the guys are much better about this than others.
Football 101 scheduled
Coach Marvin Lewis and the rest of the Bengals coaching staff will be working with 400 individuals, teaching them football fundamentals in a fun, relaxed atmosphere. The event will take place at Paul Brown Stadium on Thursday, October 5th, and includes hands-on demonstrations, video presentations and VIP tours of the locker room, weight room and playing field. Registration starts on August 1.
